Burglary

It is illegal to trespass in a building with the intent of taking property, causing grevious bodily harm, rape or damage.

Magistrates can impose a 6 month custodial sentence and a £5000 fine.

A judge at Crown Court can pass a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison and an unlimited fine.

If the offence is aggravated by means of firearms, weapons, explosives or fake weaponry, then a Crown Court can impose life imprisonment.
