Prison
Law
At
JMW Solicitors we believe that client care is paramount. We
have a specialist Prison Law Department offering confidential
advice to prisoners throughout England and Wales. As prison
lawyers we have considerable experience in all areas of prison
law, representing female offenders, young offenders, short-term
and long-term male prisoners. We recognise the particular difficulties
affecting life-sentenced prisoners and have established a dedicated
Lifer Department.
The following
pages are a guide to some of the areas of law most troubling
our clients. It does not cover every aspect of prison law and
we will be pleased to correspond with you on an individual basis
to ensure you receive specific advice relevant to your particular
circumstances.
Almost every
case is covered by legal aid and therefore you will not have
to pay for the advice you receive.
Even if
you do not feel that you have a particular problem at the moment,
we recommend that you contact us so that we can double-check
that everything affecting your sentence is being undertaken
correctly. At the very least, a solicitor should thoroughly
review your sentence plan to ensure that all targets are realistic
and any offending behaviour programmes set for you are suitable.
We can advise you on what courses should be completed, and the
best prisons in which to complete them, in order that you progress
as quickly as possible.
Please use
the links below for further information on specific areas of
prison law.
