Speeding

It is an offence to drive a motor vehicle in excess of the speed specified for that particular zone. Magistrates can fine up to £1000.

30mph is the restriction on roads where street lighting lamps are placed not further than 200 yards apart. Other speed limits depend on the class of vehicle being driven. 

The maximum speed on a motorway is 70 mph.
